Before Your Appointment

At Perth Chiro Centre, we aim to begin treatment where appropriate during your initial consultation. To do this safely and effectively, we need to review your history and imaging before you arrive.

Once you book your appointment, you will receive an automated SMS with a link to complete your online intake form.

👉 Please complete this form as soon as you make your booking.

Without this information we are unable to review your scans in advance or determine which findings may be relevant to your symptoms. Completing the form ahead of time allows us to prepare properly and provide the most accurate assessment of your condition.

Please ensure the following details are entered correctly:

• Your full legal name (no abbreviations or nicknames)
• Your correct date of birth

These details are essential for us to access your previous imaging.

Important

Intake forms must be completed at least 24 hours before your appointment, so we have adequate time to review your information and imaging.

Appointments may be rescheduled if forms are not completed within this timeframe.

Imaging Requirements for Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal decompression therapy is a scan-guided treatment. The angle and force of treatment must be set according to the spinal structures involved.

For this reason, patients must have had a CT scan or MRI of the spinal region they want treated.

This applies to the:

• Lumbar spine (lower back)
• Cervical spine (neck)

Ideally scans should be recent, however imaging performed within the last four years is generally acceptable (unless it is a new complaint with new symptoms).

When completing your intake form, please tell us where your scans were performed, as each radiology provider uses different access portals.

Examples include:
• IMED Radiology
• Perth Radiological Clinic
• Western Radiology

If the scans were performed at one of these providers, we can usually access them electronically.

If your scans were performed at a hospital, we cannot access them directly. In this case, please email your scan report prior to your appointment.
Spinal Decompression Appointment Types
All spinal decompression appointments require a CT or MRI scan of the neck or lower back (which ever area you are seeking help with).

Each appointment assesses or treats one spinal region only — either the cervical spine (neck) or the lumbar spine (lower back).
Spinal Decompression Assessment (No Treatment) $91

This appointment is designed for patients who would like their CT or MRI scans reviewed before committing to treatment.
It is suitable for patients who:

• Have been diagnosed with a disc bulge, disc herniation, extrusion or nerve compression
• Are unsure whether spinal decompression therapy may be appropriate
• Would like a professional interpretation of their scans

During this consultation we will:
• Carefully review your CT or MRI images and radiology report
• Discuss your symptoms and medical history
The purpose of this appointment is to determine:
• What structure in the neck or lower back may be causing your symptoms
• Whether spinal decompression therapy may be appropriate
• Whether another management pathway or specialist opinion may be more suitable

No spinal decompression therapy is performed during this visit.

If spinal decompression therapy appears appropriate, a treatment plan can then be discussed and scheduled for a later date.

• The appropriate traction force
• Individualised treatment settings tailored to your condition

Trial Session

Your first decompression session acts as a trial session to assess how your spine responds to treatment.
If at any stage the table aggravates your symptoms, the session will be stopped immediately.
If decompression therapy does not appear appropriate after assessment, you will only be charged the consultation fee of $91.
